The Judiciary today (May 7) announced the appointment of Ms Mimmie Chan Mei-lan as District Judge. Her appointment will take effect from June 1.
The appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
The biographical note of Ms Mimmie Chan Mei-lan is as follows:
Ms Chan was born in Brunei in 1956. She obtained LL.B and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1980 and 1981 respectively. She was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1983, in England and Wales in 1987 and in Singapore in 1991. She was in private practice from 1983.
