**********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) obtained orders in the District Court today (April 11) against three employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of about $320,000.

The court issued judgments against Everwell Auto-Service & Engineering Limited, Cheung Hing Steel Furniture Manufacturing Company Limited and Dannie Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $212,534.42, $59,288.58 and $50,518.76, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to five, six and one employees of the defendants respectively.

The court also ordered Dannie Limited to pay the MPFA $5,000 as a financial penalty imposed by the MPFA for failure to make MPF contributions for its employee.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court further awarded payments of $930 for each case as the costs in respect of the claims.
