Three employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment
**********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 10) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $90,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At the tribunal's hearing, the defendant Hiu Chun Aluminium Company Limited did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $46,175, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other two defendants, Kwok Ping Lam trading as Senior Cargo Co and Fei Transportation Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $30,450 and $17,167.50, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Tribunal further awarded $176, $120 and $186 as the costs in respect of the claims.
