The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 3) obtained two orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at around $660,000 against two employers.
The District Court today issued judgments against Sing Kwong Jewellery & Gold Company Limited and Lee Yiu Keung Kelvin trading as Chelsea Apparel Manufacturing Co. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $603,947.80 and $63,300, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 74 and 5 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court further awarded payments of $930 each as the costs in respect of the claims.
