The Election Committee Final Register was published today (February 1).
"The final register contains the names of the 796 members of the Election Committee, who will elect the third term Chief Executive on March 25," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said.
The Basic Law provides that the Election Committee shall be composed of 800 members from the following four sectors: (a) industrial, commercial and financial sectors; (b) the professions; (c) labour, social services, religious and other sectors; and (d) members of the Legislative Council, representatives of district-based organisations, Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress, and representatives of Hong Kong members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
"Since there are four ex-officio members who are both Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress and Legislative Council members, the final register contains 796 names. Each Election Committee member is entitled to cast one vote only in the Chief Executive election," the spokesman said.
Copies of the final register are available for public inspection at the REO (at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, and 10/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai), and the 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department.
