Phase II of five-day week for Judiciary

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary will implement Phase II of a five-day week from January 1, 2007, with the service hours of the involved offices extended during weekdays and the new opening hours requiring only administrative arrangements rather than legislative amendments.

     The offices covered in Phase II are Information Counters and Public Enquiry Services of the Court of Final Appeal (CFA) and the High Court; CFA and District Court Libraries; Press and Public Relations Office; Complaints Office; and Resource Centre for Unrepresented Litigants.

     The Judiciary decided on a three-phase implementation of a five-day week in June this year. Phase I, covering court sittings and back offices without any public interface, commenced on July 1 and is operating smoothly.

     The new opening hours of the offices covered by Phase II are as follows:

CFA Information Counter and Public Enquiry Service
Mon to Fri  8.30am ¡V 1pm
            2pm ¡V 5.45pm

High Court Information Counter and Public Enquiry Service
Mon to Fri  8.45am ¡V 6pm
            (Stay open during lunchtime)

CFA and District Court Libraries
Mon to Fri  8.50am ¡V 6pm
            (Stay open during lunchtime)

Press & Public Relations Office
Mon to Fri  8.45am ¡V 1pm
            2pm ¡V 6pm

Complaints Office
Mon to Fri  8.45am ¡V 1pm
            2pm ¡V 6pm

Resource Centre for Unrepresented Litigants
