"Technology Education Good Practices Sharing Scheme" Prize-giving Ceremony
*****************************************************

The "Technology Education Good Practices Sharing Scheme" Prize-giving Ceremony, organised by the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) today (November 17), was well received by the school sector with over 300 entries.

The Principal Assistant Secretary for Education and Manpower, Dr Catherine KK Chan, presented awards to school heads, teachers and students in recognition of their remarkable contributions at the event which was held at the Cultural Activities Hall of Sha Tin Town Hall.

Launched in May 2006, the "Technology Education Good Practices Sharing Scheme" aimed to recognise the contribution and quality work of school heads, teachers and students in realising the aims of education and goals of school curriculum through the Technology Education Key Learning Area (TEKLA).

The scheme is organised by the Technology Education Section, the Curriculum Development Institute, EMB and supported by various tertiary institutions, professional bodies and organisations.

There are three types of awards for this scheme, namely: (i) 'Good Practices for Curriculum Leadership in Technology Education', (ii) 'Good Practices for Curriculum Design in Technology Education', and (iii) 'Student Ambassador of Technology Education'.

The respective adjudication panels comprised of academics, professionals in the education sector, representatives of related professional bodies and organisations were set up to interview school leaders, evaluate curriculum design and student work.

Over 30 teachers and school heads received awards in recognition of their remarkable achievements and good practices in curriculum leadership and curriculum design. A total of 14 students were also selected and named as Student Ambassadors of Technology Education.

A series of post-activity sharing sessions will also be organised in early 2007. Award winners of school heads and teachers will be invited to share their good practices and valuable experiences through related teacher professional development programmes.

Details of the scheme are available on the scheme web page at http://www.emb.gov.hk/index.aspx?nodeID=5519&langno=1. For enquiries, please email: teched@emb.gov.hk.
