Austrian theatre to thrill local puppetry lovers (with photos)
*******************************************************

The award-winning puppetry theatre, Marionettentheater Schloss Schonbrunn (Austria), will visit Hong Kong in December with a gala of music, dance, fast-moving action and colourful sets and costumes.

With the music of Mozart and Johann Strauss Jr., the theatre will showcase "A Little Night Music" (Eine kleine Nachtmusik) and "Johann Strauss and the Danube Maid" in their performance.

"A Little Night Music" is one of the most popular classical works by Mozart. It is exquisite, captivating and distinctive. The work itself did not appear in print until 36 years after Mozart's death, and the composer's original manuscript only came to light during the Second World War. In this marionette play, a beautiful lady merrily dances in the woods to the light but masterful music of Mozart.

Inspired by the Danube where Strauss's father grew up, Johann Strauss Jr. wrote his best-known work "The Blue Danube" in 1867. "Johann Strauss and the Danube Maid" portrays the life of Johann Strauss Jr. Embellished by exquisitely made marionettes, fabulous set and costumes, rich and splendid scenes - dancing violins, a romantic forest, gorgeous snow ... and the beautiful scores of Mozart and Strauss, the puppetry theatre offers a delightful experience in the fantasy world of marionettes.

Marionettentheater Schloss Schonbrunn is the champion of the 32nd International Festivals of Puppet (1999, Zagreb), World Festival of Puppet Art (2000, Prague) and the 9th International Puppet Festival (2002, Teheran). It has performed in many cities and won critical acclaim.

The performance will be at 8pm on Friday (December 15) at the Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre; 8pm on Saturday (December 16) and 3pm on Sunday (December 17) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall.

Tickets priced from $90 to $170 are now available at URBTIX outlets, while senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients may have 50% off (limited quotas for CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis).
