Sewerage works to be carried out on Lamma Island

    The Government intends to carry out sewerage works on Lamma Island for the purpose of providing an outfall to discharge treated sewage and completion of the proposed sewerage network.

     The works will involve the laying of a submarine outfall of about 750 metres in length within an area of approximately 76,200 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed at Mo Tat Wan and the construction of a pair of sewers each of 20 metres in length within an area of approximately 208 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed at Chung Mei.

     The works are scheduled to commence in mid-2007 and to be completed in mid-2010.

     A notice describing the extent of the area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (October 27).

     The notice, together with a related plan, can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road and the Islands District Office, 20th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.

     Anyone who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F, North Point Government Offices by December 27, 2006.
