MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for five employees
************************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 13) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $40,000 on behalf of five employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, Cotex International Communication Products Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $26,323.5, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other defendant, Step Wealth Logistics Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $19,748.58, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $210 and $290 as the costs in respect of the Small Claims Tribunal cases.
