The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Tai Kok Tsui to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.
The restaurant, at 25 Tong Mei Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (September 11) to September 24, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.
"In July last year and June this year, there were two convictions in respect of preparing food in open space and illegal extension of food business at the food premises.
"A total fine of $3,700 was levied and 15 points under the department's demerit points system were registered against the licensee. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.
He added that there were also two convictions in respect of washing utensils and preparing food in open space at the same restaurant in April and July last year.
"A total fine of $6,300 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from September 28 to October 4 last year," the spokesman said.
He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
