Ms Wong said the department had developed new facilities to meet the demands of the residents as a result of the urban redevelopment.

"Being the first indoor recreation venue in the clubhouse-style in Yau Tsim Mong District, Tai Kok Tsui Sports Centre has a great diversity of facilities.

"Also, there are lots of activities to promote the library services and to foster reading habits in the community," she added.

Tai Kok Tsui Swimming Pool, Tai Kok Tsui Sports Centre and Tai Kok Tsui Public Library are situated in the Tai Kok Tsui Municipal Services Building at 63 Fuk Tsun Street, Tai Kok Tsui.

Land-based facilities provided in Tai Kok Tsui Sports Centre include a main arena, a sports climbing wall, a fitness room, a children's play room, three activity rooms and a spectator stand that can accommodate up to 250 people.

Below the sports centre is Tai Kok Tsui Swimming Pool equipped with an indoor leisure pool with a tropical setting and a 25-metre training pool.

Occupying an area of 670 square metres, Tai Kok Tsui Public Library provides an ideal place for local residents to enjoy some leisure reading.

The library has acquired a basic stock of 60,000 items.

Together with the Online Public Access Catalogue terminals, readers can search library catalogues and the Multimedia Information System, browse the internet and view CD-ROMs.
