Residents in Yau Tsim Mong District can now enjoy a range of new leisure amenities with the opening of Cherry Street Park.
Occupying an area of 4.25 hectares and bounded by Ferry Street, Cherry Street and Hoi Ting Road, Cherry Street Park is the latest addition to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's (LCSD) leisure venues. It opens daily from 6.30am to 11pm.
An LCSD spokesman said that apart from the pleasant landscaping and sitting-out areas, Cherry Street Park had a diversity of facilities to suit people of different ages.
"These facilities include a jogging path, foot massage path, Tai Chi area and fitness stations," the spokesman said.
"The provision of a seven-a-side artificial turf soccer pitch with spectator stands, two hard-surface basketball/volleyball courts and four tennis courts will no doubt be good news to outdoor ball game lovers.
"There is also a children's playground where kids can play."
The park has a booking office, changing rooms and toilets. The booking office, operating from 7am to 10pm daily, allows users to hire not only the facilities in the park, but also LCSD facilities territory-wide.
Users can hire the park's facilities according to LCSD booking procedures. Details of the opening hours and hiring rates of the facilities are:
Seven-a-side artificial turf soccer pitch
Opening hours: 8am to 11pm daily
(The venue will be closed from 8am to 1pm on the first and 15th of each month for maintenance.)
Hiring rates: $84 per one and a half hours without flood lights and $168 per one and a half hours with flood lights.
Tennis Courts
Opening hours: 7am to 11pm daily
Hiring rates: $42 per hour without flood lights and $57 per hour with flood lights
Basketball/Volleyball Courts
Opening hours: 6.30am to 11pm daily
Hiring rates: No charge for the use of the courts.
Cherry Street Park is being built in two phases. The construction of the second phase will start next year (2006), and the facilities in the second phase will include a piazza, Tai Chi area, landscape and sitting-out areas.
Cherry Street Park is the third LCSD park in the Yau Tsim Mong District. The others are Kowloon Park and Lok Kwan Park.
