Appointments to Copyright Tribunal

    The Government announced today (December 2) the Chief Executive has appointed Miss Gladys Veronica Li Chi-hei and Mr Kenneth Ho King-man as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal respectively for a period of two years with effect from December 1, 2005.  

     The Chief Executive has also appointed four new members and reappointed three incumbent members to the Copyright Tribunal. The new members are Mr Paul Chan Mo-po, Ms Emily Cheung Mui-seung, Mr David Lam Tai-wai and Mr Joseph Tung Yao-chung. The three reappointed members are Professor Ching Pak-chung, Mr Yu Pang-chun and Mr Danny Yung nine-tsun. These appointments and re-appointments are also for a period of two years with effect from December 1, 2005.

     "We would like to express our gratitude to the retiring members for their service on the Tribunal over the past years," a spokesman for the Government said.  

     The Copyright Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body established under the Copyright Ordinance. It adjudicates on disputes concerning the terms and conditions of copyright licensing schemes devised by licensing bodies. The Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Tribunal must be qualified for appointment as District Judges.

     The new membership list of the Copyright Tribunal with effect from December 1, 2005 is as follows:
