Following is the transcript (English portion) of the remarks made by the Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, on Boundary Facilities Improvement Tax at a stand-up media session at the Central Government Offices this (September 8) afternoon:
Financial Secretary: Regarding my meeting with the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong this morning, they raised the issue of Boundary Facilities Improvement Tax and they said that they were against such a tax. I understand their feelings and I will be taking a more comprehensive look at the entire budget problem. It (decision on the Boundary Facilities Improvement Tax) would be in the context of an overall review of my future plan regarding balancing the budget, the timing, as well as the philosophy. It would be one of the elements of the entire package.
