Following is the transcript (English portion) of a standup media session by the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, after attending the 2003 Voter Registration Kick-off Ceremony held at Shatin Town Hall Plaza today (June 1):

SCA: Today is the launching of the 2003 Voter Registration Campaign. We would like this year to focus particularly on young people who have reached 18 years old.

I remember that during my school days, when I reached 18, the only voting activity I could take part in was the student council election campaign. Now that Hong Kong has arrangements for young people who have reached 18 years old to take part in the District Councils and the Legislative Council elections, we would like to call on all our young people who have reached 18 years old to register before July 16, so that they can take part in this year's District Councils elections scheduled for November and also in next year's Legislative Council election.
