The Financial Secretary Mr Antony Leung announced today (April 10) that public consultation would be conducted on the regulation of listing matters.
"The general direction recommended by the Expert Group to Review the Operation of the Securities and Futures Market Regulatory Structure in their Report is appropriate and will enhance the quality of our market," Mr Leung said.
"In view of the far-reaching implications and to ensure effective implementation, the Government will do more research and will consult the community further. In particular, we will work closely with the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited," Mr Leung said.
"In the meantime, the listing division stays with the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in the coming twelve to eighteen months," Mr Leung added.
