Functions and Objective of TB & Chest Service
- Implement all control and preventive measures against tuberculosis,
including :-
BCG vaccination among newborns and children under age 15 who never receive
BCG vaccination.
Case finding-examination of TB contacts and other risk groups.
Chemotherapy
Chemoprophylaxis
Health education
- Provide care to patients with all kinds of chest diseases including
lung cancer, pneumonia, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis,
pneumoconiosis etc
- Carry out research to look for better measures in the fight against
tuberculosis and other chest diseases.
Services provided
- Out-patient care and liaison for in-patient care for patients suffering
from tuberculosis and different kinds of chest diseases; and
- All preventive and control services against tuberculosis.
