TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
AT 10 A.M., TYPHOON KAJIKI WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 630
KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 17.4 DEGREES
NORTH 111.1 DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT
ABOUT 18 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE SEAS SOUTH OF
HAINAN ISLAND.
IN THE PAST FEW HOURS, KAJIKI MOVED FURTHER AWAY FROM HONG
KONG. WHEN KAJIKI NO LONGER POSES A THREAT TO HONG KONG,
THE OBSERVATORY WILL CANCEL ALL TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING
SIGNALS OR REPLACE THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 BY THE STRONG
MONSOON SIGNAL.
A FEW SQUALLY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED OVER
HONG KONG TODAY. WINDS WILL BE OCCASIONALLY STRONG OFFSHORE
AND ON HIGH GROUND. THERE WILL BE SWELLS. MEMBERS OF THE
PUBLIC ARE ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SHORELINE AND NOT
TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
(PRECAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENTS WITH NO. 1 SIGNAL)
1. STRONG WINDS ARE STILL BLOWING OVER OFFSHORE WATERS.
SMALL VESSELS SHOULD REMAIN IN SHELTER AND PRECAUTIONS
SHOULD NOT YET BE RELAXED.
2. LISTEN TO RADIO, WATCH TV OR BROWSE THE HONG KONG
