LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE CENTRAL PART OF THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA INTENSIFIED INTO A TROPICAL STORM YESTERDAY
MORNING AND WAS NAMED KAJIKI. IT FURTHER INTENSIFIED INTO
SEVERE TROPICAL STORM IN THE AFTERNOON. LOCALLY, THE
WEATHER WAS MAINLY FINE YESTERDAY. IT WAS VERY HOT DURING
THE DAY, TEMPERATURES GENERALLY ROSE TO 33 DEGREES OR
ABOVE. IT BECAME CLOUDY WITH A FEW SHOWERS AND SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS AT NIGHT. KAJIKI IS EXPECTED TO MOVE IN THE
GENERAL DIRECTION OF THE SEAS SOUTH OF HAINAN ISLAND TODAY.
THERE WILL BE OCCASIONAL SQUALLY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS,
AS WELL AS SWELLS OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA
SEA AND THE COAST OF GUANGDONG. WITH KAJIKI MOVING INLAND
OVER INDO-CHINA AND DISSIPATING, SHOWERS WILL EASE OFF
GRADUALLY OVER THE COAST OF GUANGDONG IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH A FEW SQUALLY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVY AT FIRST. SUNNY INTERVALS DURING THE
DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 26 AND 31 DEGREES.
MODERATE TO FRESH EASTERLY WINDS, OCCASIONALLY STRONG
OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND, GUSTY AT TIMES AT FIRST. THERE
WILL BE SWELLS.


 
OUTLOOK : WINDS WILL MODERATE GRADUALLY IN THE FOLLOWING
COUPLE OF DAYS. THERE WILL BE SUNNY INTERVALS BUT STILL A
FEW SHOWERS.
