LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.


 
GENERAL SITUATION


A STRONG NORTHEAST MONSOON AFFECTED GUANGDONG YESTERDAY.
MEANWHILE, THERE WERE ALSO SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER
THE COASTAL AREAS AND THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA
SEA. LOCALLY, IT WAS MAINLY CLOUDY WITH OCCASIONAL SHOWERS
AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WERE HEAVIER IN SOME
AREAS. MORE THAN 10 MILLIMETRES OF RAINFALL WERE GENERALLY
RECORDED OVER THE TERRITORY, AND RAINFALL EVEN EXCEEDED 40
MILLIMETRES OVER THE NEW TERRITORIES EAST. THE NORTHEAST
MONSOON WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT GUANGDONG TODAY. A BROAD
TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BRING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
TO THE SOUTH CHINA COAST AND THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH
CHINA SEA TODAY AND TOMORROW.


 
BESIDES, SEVERE TROPICAL STORM NOUL WEAKENED GRADUALLY INTO
A TROPICAL DEPRESSION YESTERDAY. AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT,
NOUL WAS CENTRED ABOUT 200 KILOMETRES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF
VIENTIANE. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST AT ABOUT 28
KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS INDOCHINA PENINSULA AND
DISSIPATE GRADUALLY.


 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG


 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND A FEW SQUALLY
THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS WILL BE HEAVIER IN SOME AREAS.
TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 26 AND 30 DEGREES. FRESH
EASTERLY WINDS, STRONG OFFSHORE AND ON HIGH GROUND AT FIRST.


 
OUTLOOK : THERE WILL BE LESS SHOWERS IN THE FOLLOWING
COUPLE OF DAYS. BECOMING BRIGHTER EARLY NEXT WEEK.
