TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN
 
HERE IS THE LATEST TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING BULLETIN ISSUED
BY THE HONG KONG OBSERVATORY.
 
THE STANDBY SIGNAL, NO. 1 IS IN FORCE.
 
THIS MEANS THAT A TROPICAL CYCLONE NOW CENTRED WITHIN ABOUT
800 KILOMETRES OF HONG KONG MAY AFFECT US.
 
SEVERE TROPICAL STORM BAILU HAS WEAKENED INTO A TROPICAL
STORM.
 
AT 10 A.M., BAILU WAS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT 340 KILOMETRES
EAST-NORTHEAST OF HONG KONG (NEAR 23.9 DEGREES NORTH 117.0
DEGREES EAST) AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE WEST-NORTHWEST AT
ABOUT 25 KILOMETRES PER HOUR CROSSING SOUTHEASTERN PART OF
CHINA.


 
BAILU WILL GRADUALLY WEAKEN OVER INLAND AREA. THE CHANCE OF
GENERALLY STRONG WINDS IN HONG KONG IS RELATIVELY LOW.
 
WHEN THE THREAT OF BAILU TO HONG KONG DIMINISHES, THE
OBSERVATORY WILL CANCEL ALL TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING
SIGNALS.
 
THE OUTER RAINBANDS OF BAILU WILL CONTINUE TO BRING SQUALLY
SHOWERS TO GUANGDONG TODAY.

1. DRAINS SHOULD BE CLEARED OF LEAVES AND RUBBISH. PEOPLE
IN LOW-LYING AREAS SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FLOODING.
 
2. PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN. WINDOWS AND DOORS SHOULD BE
CHECKED.
 
3. THERE MAY BE SWELLS. YOU ARE ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM
THE SHORELINE AND NOT TO ENGAGE IN WATER SPORTS.
 
4. PEOPLE PLANNING TO VISIT GUANGDONG, MACAU, OUTLYING
ISLANDS OR REMOTE PARTS OF HONG KONG SHOULD NOTE THAT
CHANGES IN WEATHER MAY AFFECT YOUR TRIPS.
