LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST

HERE IS THE LATEST WEATHER BULLETIN ISSUED BY THE HONG KONG
OBSERVATORY.
 
GENERAL SITUATION

A BROAD TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE AFFECTED THE COAST OF
GUANGDONG AND THE NORTHERN PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA
YESTERDAY. LOCALLY, THERE WERE HEAVY SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS AT FIRST. MORE THAN 50 MILLIMETRES OF
RAINFALL WERE RECORDED IN MANY AREAS OF THE TERRITORY, AND
RAINFALL EVEN EXCEEDED 100 MILLIMETRES OVER PARTS OF
KOWLOON CITY, SHA TIN AND TAI PO. SHOWERS EASED OFF WITH
SUNNY INTERVALS DURING THE DAY. THE BROAD TROUGH OF LOW
PRESSURE IS EXPECTED TO LINGER OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF
THE SOUTH CHINA SEA IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THERE WILL
STILL BE SHOWERS OVER THE REGION AND THE COAST OF GUANGDONG.
 
AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, SEVERE TYPHOON LIONROCK WAS CENTRED
ABOUT 770 KILOMETRES SOUTH OF TOKYO. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE
NORTHEAST AT ABOUT 30 KILOMETRES PER HOUR ACROSS THE SEAS
SOUTH OF JAPAN.
 
WEATHER FORECAST FOR HONG KONG
 
MAINLY CLOUDY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS. SUNNY INTERVALS DURING
THE DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 26 AND 31 DEGREES.
MODERATE NORTH TO NORTHEASTERLY WINDS.
 
OUTLOOK : A FEW SHOWERS IN THE FOLLOWING COUPLE OF DAYS.
MORE SHOWERY WITH THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MIDDLE AND LATTER
