Hong Kong athletes have golden start to FESPIC Games

The Hong Kong team competing in the 8th Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled (FESPIC Games) has got off to a flying start, winning a total of 19 medals on the first day of competition in Busan, Korea.

The athletes won nine gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

The acting Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, sent his heartfelt congratulations to the Hong Kong Delegation today (October 27), saying he was deeply impressed by the team's performance.

"The athletes have fully demonstrated our 'Hong Kong Spirit'," Mr Tsang said. "Their achievements have earned the recognition and acclaim of the community."

The Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick Ho, also praised the team's efforts and said he hoped the delegation would continue to bring 'pride and honour' to Hong Kong in the remaining events.
