Sydney sets eyes on Brand Hong Kong exhibition

An exhibition on 'Hong Kong - Asia's world city' was unveiled by Mrs Jenny Wallis, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Australia, yesterday (28 June) at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour.

A main feature of the exhibition is Hong Hong's new global brand, a stylised dragon incorporating the Chinese characters for "Hong Kong" and the letters "H" and "K".

The exhibition, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, portrays how Hong Kong has developed from a small fishing village on the southern coast of China into Asia's world city.

Hong Kong's position today as the gateway to the mainland of China, a hub for business in the Asia-pacific region and a popular destination for tourists are featured in the exhibition. Visitors will also see the territory's infrastructural developments and its vision of becoming the centre for innovation and technology in East Asia.

A collection of stamps reflecting the evolution and achievements of Hong Kong will be on display.

Visitors will also have the chance to see a collection of photos capturing from people and panoramas to vistas and villages in Hong Kong. This collection is taken by a group of photographers from National Geographic Traveler and fellow photographers from Hong Kong and made available for display by courtesy of the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

The exhibition is open to public with free admission from 10am to 5pm daily from today (29 June) until 4 July.

Officiating also at the opening reception for the exhibition was Mr P C Luk, Postmaster General of Hong Kong, in Sydney this week for the launch of the 'Australia-Hong Kong Stamp' promotions.
