UK-based education tools developer sets up Hong Kong HQ

A British education tools developer, ED.UK.8 Worldwide Ltd, has selected Hong Kong as its Asia-Pacific base.

The company announced today (April 13) that the main function of the Hong Kong office, ED.UK.8 Kids, was to market its educational toys, tools, media and appliances for toddlers and young children and to serve as a springboard to enter the China market.

The Chairman of ED.UK.8 Worldwide, Ms Christine Lawson, said Hong Kong people had always placed a significant emphasis on children's education.

"We saw the huge demand here for education supplements, in particular for English learning and multiple-intelligence. And Hong Kong is a business-friendly city, especially for SMEs," Ms Lawson said.

The Managing Director, Mr Roger Walker, noted the importance of getting customer feedback from outside the UK on the company's innovative learning materials.

The mission of ED.UK.8 Worldwide is to integrate school and home learning.

At the opening ceremony today, Associate Director-General for Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Simon Galpin, said he was pleased to see Hong Kong being selected as the springboard for the company to expand outside the UK.

"The investment made by ED.UK.8 Worldwide in Hong Kong has clearly demonstrated the company's confidence in our city as the key education market in Asia. We look forward to seeing the company benefiting from using our city as a base for the development, sourcing and delivery of their educational products for their home market and markets in other parts of the world," said Mr Galpin.
