Correctional officers at Pik Uk Prison stopped a male person in custody from attacking a staff member today (November 8).

     At 7.05am today, a 23-year-old male person in custody suddenly became emotional and attacked a correctional officer outside a cell. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailant and called for reinforcement.

     During the incident, the officer being attacked sustained an injury to his face, while the assailant was found with no external injuries. After examination and treatment by an institution Medical Officer, they were sent to public hospitals for further treatment.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of theft in 2026.
