The Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services and General Manager of the EMSTF, Mr Poon Kwok-ying, said that in addition to extending full support to the community in responding to extreme weather and emergencies during the year, the EMSTF assisted client departments in smoothly organising mega events such as the 15th National Games. Furthermore, the EMSTF facilitated client departments' digital transformation and adoption of key technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), laying the foundation for future operations and maintenance strategies driven by AI and advanced robotics. During the year, the EMSTF deepened co-operation with the Mainland in areas such as AI+ applications, regional connectivity, innovation and technology (I&T) alongside talent development, leveraging its expertise and practical experience to contribute to the national development.
Mr Poon said, "Looking ahead, we will continue to drive the development of AI, Multi-trade integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) and open Building Information Modelling (BIM) to advance I&T applications, enhance energy efficiency, and ensure the steady development of the EMSTF. Meanwhile, we will continue to play a pivotal role as an innovation facilitator. By applying AI and digital construction methods in real-life scenarios, we aim to demonstrate to our clients and the electrical and mechanical sector the boundless possibilities of digital and green transformation, thereby encouraging them to keep pace with the times and embrace innovation."
The EMSTF Report was tabled in the Legislative Council today and uploaded to the EMSD website (www.emsd.gov.hk/en/publications/emsd_reports/emstf_reports/index.html) for public reference.
