Officiating at the opening ceremony, the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, said that the "Leisure·Nature·Chill & Fun" Expo comprehensively showcases the diversity of local leisure fisheries, leisure farming and eco-tourism. Not only does it enhance public awareness and interest in this area, but it also helps fishermen and farmers broaden their sources of income, thereby promoting the sustainable development of local agriculture and fisheries. The First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030) proposes developing Hong Kong's agricultural and fisheries products into one of the demonstration brands within the Greater Bay Area; public support for local agriculture and fisheries is especially important in realising this vision.
The Expo, for the first time, has brought together agriculture, fisheries and nature attractions from across all districts of Hong Kong that cover the elements of "Eat, Play, Shop and Learn", introducing to the public, in one go, a number of less noticed yet highly worthwhile destinations for exploration, and encouraging the public to visit them more often to experience the joy of leisure fisheries and farming activities.
In addition, the AFCD has simultaneously launched a new website, "enJoy Leisure in Nature" (enjoyleisure.afcd.gov.hk),which provides a one-stop integration of information on leisure fish farms, agricultural farms and natural attractions across all districts of Hong Kong (including country parks, marine parks, geopark, the Hong Kong Wetland Park, and the Long Valley Nature Park). The website covers activity details, locations, transportation, opening hours and contact information, making it convenient for the public and visitors to plan in-depth local tours and experience the unique charm of Hong Kong's agriculture, fisheries and natural resources.
The "Leisure·Nature·Chill & Fun" Expo is open from noon to 7pm today and tomorrow (October 10 and 11). Admission is free and the public are welcome to participate. Advance registration is not required for the seminars, while workshops and guided tours offer limited on-site registration on a first-come, first-served basis. For event details and the schedule, please visit the "enJoy Leisure in Nature" website.
Promoting the development of leisure farming and fisheries is one of the key directions of the Blueprint for the Sustainable Development of Agriculture and Fisheries, and is also a measure put forward in the Chief Executive's 2026 Policy Address. The AFCD will continue to enhance the promotion and publicity of local leisure farming and fisheries, and actively explore suitable development models for Hong Kong, with a view to assisting the industry in upgrading and transforming.
