Employer fined for violation of safety legislation

Chun Yuen Engineer (HK) Company Limited was fined $60,000 at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (October 8) for violating the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 1, 2025, at a residential building in Tuen Mun. A worker, while draining dyed water on the roof alone for a seepage test of waterproofing works, got his left arm trapped in a drainage opening, causing him to drown as his face had been submerged in the water for some time. He was rushed to hospital in an unconscious state and passed away 13 days later.
