The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:

     The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today (October 5) that the Monetary Authority has granted a restricted banking licence to BAKAI BANK Open Joint Stock Company (Bakai Bank) under the Banking Ordinance. Bakai Bank is incorporated in the Kyrgyz Republic. The granting of this restricted banking licence takes effect today (October 5, 2026).
      
     After the grant of a restricted banking licence to Bakai Bank, the number of restricted licence banks in Hong Kong is 17.
