District Council Member's resignation from office

The Government received today (September 26) a written notice from Tai Po District Council (DC) member, Ms Wong Pik-kiu, pursuant to the District Councils Ordinance (Cap. 547) (the Ordinance), to resign from office as a DC member due to health reasons. Ms Wong also resigned at the same time from her duties as member of the Tai Po South Area Committee and captain of the Tai Po Kwong Fuk and Plover Cove sub-district Care Team. The Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, said Ms Wong has served in the district for many years, and respects her decision.
The Government will, in accordance with the Ordinance, publish in due course a notice in the Gazette to declare the relevant office of the DC member as vacant from September 26.
