Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

China Power International Development Limited, Towngas - China Power (HK) Integrated Energy Company Limited, A. Kourage Limited and Skynet Engineering Company Limited were fined $908,000, $908,000, $904,250 and $417,000 respectively at the Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (September 17) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Electricity) Regulations and the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 10, 2023, at Hong Kong Science Park in Sha Tin. A worker received an electric shock while carrying out electrical work. He passed away on the same day.
