Judiciary hosts Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts Steering Group Meeting (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
 
     The Judiciary hosted the Steering Group meeting of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts (SIFoCC) today (September 14).
      
     The meeting was attended by Chief Justices, senior judges and prominent representatives from 12 jurisdictions. Chief Justice Andrew Cheung, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, and Justice Jonathan Harris, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, represented the Hong Kong Judiciary at the meeting. They were joined by participants from jurisdictions including the Chinese Mainland, England and Wales, France, India, Jamaica, Malaysia, Qatar, Korea, Singapore, the United States and Zambia.  
      
     The meeting provided an important forum for international judicial exchanges and the mutual sharing of views and experiences in relation to best practices in the management of commercial and corporate litigation. A wide range of critical issues, such as the application of artificial intelligence in the judicial process, cross-border evidence-taking, and judicial training, were discussed by the Steering Group today.

     SIFoCC is an international forum that brings together commercial courts from around the world to promote international judicial co-operation, the rule of law, and the effective resolution of commercial disputes. Hong Kong is a founding member of SIFoCC and has been actively participating in its work since its establishment in 2017. The holding of its Steering Group Meeting in Hong Kong reinforces our status as a leading international legal, arbitration and dispute resolution centre.
