Employment agency's application for licence renewal refused

The LD refused to renew the EA licence of SOUTHEAST ASIA EMPLOYMENT AGENCY, located in Tsim Sha Tsui, as its licensee had been convicted under the Hotel and Guesthouse Accommodation Ordinance.
Under section 53(1)(c)(v) of the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57), the Commissioner for Labour may refuse to issue or renew an EA licence if he is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the licensee or the person intending to be the licensee is not, for any other reason, a fit and proper person to operate an EA.
"Licensees and operators of EAs are reminded to conduct their business in compliance with all laws of Hong Kong and the Code of Practice for EAs at all times. Otherwise, their licence may be revoked, or their application for licence renewal or a new licence may be refused," a spokesman for the LD said.
