Correctional officers stop fighting among detainees

At 10.51am today, eight male detainees, aged between 29 and 63, engaged in a fight inside a dayroom. Officers immediately stopped the fight and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, three detainees sustained injuries to their head, neck, chest, hands and foot respectively. They did not need to be sent to a public hospital after receiving medical examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. Another detainee sustained injuries to his shoulder and foot. He was referred to a public hospital for further treatment after examination and treatment by the institution Medical Officer. The remaining detainees did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The eight detainees are detained under the Immigration Ordinance.
