SEE to visit Beijing

     The Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan, will depart for a visit to Beijing this afternoon (September 7). He will also attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Energy Ministerial Meeting and the Asia-Pacific Forum on Energy Sustainable Development. 

     During this visit, he will meet with officials of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to have in-depth exchanges on the progress of carbon neutrality, promoting green living and green transformation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; meet and exchange with officials of the National Energy Administration and visit facilities of the State Grid Corporation of China; and meet with officials of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China to discuss strengthening co-operation and visit the Science and Technology Research Center of China Customs and a local food enterprise in Beijing. 

     On September 10 and 11, Mr Tse will attend the APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting and the Asia-Pacific Forum on Energy Sustainable Development to join energy ministers or representatives from APEC member economies to discuss areas such as challenges and strategies for collaborative energy governance in the Asia-Pacific region, high-quality energy services, and artificial intelligence and energy, with a view to jointly promoting energy co-operation and innovation in the region.

     Mr Tse will return to Hong Kong in the evening on September 11. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Miss Diane Wong, will be the Acting Secretary for Environment and Ecology.
