LegCo Panel on Transport to conduct duty visit to Beijing

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The delegation of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Transport will depart for Beijing tomorrow (September 2) to conduct a 4-day duty visit.

     The objectives of the visit are for Members to gain deeper insights into the latest developments in road transport planning in new development areas of Beijing, operation and management of ride-hailing platforms, unmanned driving, smart transport applications, road maintenance and new energy transport tools. Through meetings and exchanges with the representatives of the Beijing Municipal Government and relevant organisations, the delegation hopes to bring successful local experience back to Hong Kong for future reference in the transport planning and development of the Northern Metropolis.

     The delegation will visit the following places and organisations from September 2 to 5:
 
  • Beijing Transport Institute
  • Beijing Urban Road Maintenance and Management Center
  • Headquarters of DiDi Chuxing
  • Beijing Municipal Administrative Center
  • Beijing Municipal Transportation Operations Coordination Center
  • Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport
  • Headquarters of Sinotrans Limited
  • The Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal People's Congress
  • DiDi Chuxing, autonomous driving demonstration area and Baidu Apollo Park in Yizhuang, Beijing
  • Headquarters of Amap

     The delegation is led by the Chairman of the Panel, Dr Chan Han-pan. Other participating members include Panel members Mr Chau Siu-chung, Mr Erik Yim, Mr Adrian Ho, Mr Aaron Bok, Ms Christine Fong, Mr Lothair Lam, Mr Yiu Ming, Mr Chong Ho-fung, Mr Cheung Pui-kong, and Mr Tam Chun-kwok; as well as non-Panel members Mr Chan Yung and Ms Kwok Fu-yung. 

     At the invitation of the Panel, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Ms Mable Chan, will lead a government delegation to join the duty visit.
