The Transport Department (TD) today (August 26) alerted members of the public to fraudulent mobile apps purported to be from the TD. The public should not download fraudulent government apps from unofficial means, nor respond to or provide any personal information. The case will be referred to the Police for follow-up.

     A spokesman for the TD clarified that the TD has no connection with any of the apps purported to be the HKeToll, HKeToll Commercial Driver App, HKeMeter, Electronic Driving Licence or HKeMobility with the unauthorised use of the respective names and logos. The official mobile apps are currently available only on the official platforms of Apple App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. The public should carefully identify the official means to download them to avoid falling prey to scams.

     Citizens should heighten vigilance when receiving unidentified emails or messages, and should not visit suspicious websites or disclose any personal information. Anyone who has provided personal information to such fraudulent apps should contact the Police. For enquiries, users may call the TD's hotline at 2804 2600 or email tdenq@td.gov.hk.
