Building smarter, faster in Hong Kong
*************************************
Established in 2024, the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi) has spearheaded over 45 innovative initiatives, which are projected to save the construction industry up to $3.1 billion annually.

Among these is the application of a locally developed type of concrete at a roadwork project in Yuen Long's Shap Pat Heung Interchange, with technical guidelines slated for release in 2027.

Representatives from the BTRi spoke to news.gov.hk about the institute's work since its establishment, while an engineer from the Civil Engineering and Development Department explained the advantages of the new concrete.

The story is available at www.news.gov.hk/eng/feature/ from today (August 16) in text and video format.
