FEHD releases results of allocation of new niches
*************************************************
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (July 15) conducted an open lot drawing and computer balloting for applications for extendable niches at Wo Hop Shek Columbarium Phase VI in Fanling, Cape Collinson-San Ha Columbarium in Eastern District, and Shek Mun Columbarium in Sha Tin. The results have been released. Niches were allocated to all 8 616 eligible applicants.
A spokesman for the FEHD said, "In this annual allocation exercise, all applicants are allocated an extendable niche at their chosen venue. The FEHD conducted the drawing of lots and computer balloting today to determine the exact location of the allocated niches and the priority order for completing allocation procedures.
"The allocation results have been uploaded to the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk), and applicants can use their application numbers and identity card numbers for checking. The FEHD will also notify applicants of their allocated niche locations by WhatsApp/SMS and email. From today onwards, applicants can visit the FEHD Hong Kong or Kowloon Cemeteries and Crematoria Offices, the Public Niche Allocation Office, or call the hotline at 2841 9111 to enquire about their results. The FEHD will inform the applicants in batches, according to their priority ranking, through letter/WhatsApp/SMS and email regarding the detailed arrangements for completing the allocation procedures and payment."
The spokesman reminds applicants that the FEHD will not include any hyperlinks related to payments or external websites by SMS or email. Applicants should check the information and complete procedures through the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk).
The FEHD will launch a new enhanced monthly public niche allocation arrangement starting from August 1 to entirely replace the existing annual allocation. Under the enhanced arrangement, the FEHD will include all four columbaria for monthly niche allocations: Tsang Tsui Columbarium in Tun Mun, Wo Hop Shek Columbarium Phase VI in Fanling, Cape Collinson-San Ha Columbarium in Eastern District, and Shek Mun Columbarium in Sha Tin, providing a total of not less than 1 600 extendable niches each month so that the public could be more flexible and have more choices when applying for public niches. For details of the new monthly allocation arrangement, please visit the FEHD website (www.fehd.gov.hk). The FEHD also encourages the public to choose green burials by scattering cremated ashes of the deceased in designated Gardens of Remembrance or waters, to support environmental sustainability and enduring love. For details, please visit the FEHD green burial thematic website (www.greenburial.gov.hk/en/home/index.html).
