
Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected liquid methamphetamine worth about $38 million at airport (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (July 14) seized about 74 kilograms of suspected liquid methamphetamine with an estimated market value of about $38 million at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Based on risk assessment, Customs officers today inspected two inbound air cargo consignments, declared as clothes and dried food, arriving from Vietnam via Hong Kong en route to Japan, at HKIA. Upon examination, about 74 kg of suspected liquid methamphetamine was found concealed inside 50 glass bottles of fruit juice.
An investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
