Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital announces incident of assault on healthcare worker

The spokesman for Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) made the following announcement today (June 26) regarding an incident of a healthcare worker being assaulted:
A nurse was assaulted while working in the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) on the afternoon of June 24. Ward staff and security staff immediately arrived on the scene to assist, and called the Police for assistance. The nurse, who suffered a back injury, was discharged after receiving treatment at the A&E of AHNH. Police subsequently arrested a patient at the hospital, who is suspected of being involved in the incident.
The hospital is highly concerned about the incident. It has expressed sympathy and rendered necessary support to the nurse. The hospital resolutely adopts a zero-tolerance attitude to any workplace violence and strongly condemns the violent act. The hospital will follow up and fully co-operate with the police investigation.
AHNH has always attached great importance to work safety for its staff through its prevailing guidelines and measures to prevent workplace violence. The hospital appeals to patients to follow the advice of healthcare staff.
The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office via the Advance Incident Reporting System.
