Four suspects in connection with robbery returned to Hong Kong

     The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) received four suspects in suspected connection with a robbery case from the Mainland authorities at the Shenzhen Bay Port today (June 22).

     The three male and one female suspects, aged between 16 and 25, were in suspected connection with a robbery case happened in Airport District on June 18, in which gold slabs worth about $7 million were robbed. The four suspects then fled to the Mainland.

     With the information of the four suspects, Police then sought assistance from the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau. The four suspects were subsequently arrested in the Mainland.

     The HKPF was grateful for the invaluable assistance rendered by the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau. The arrest of the four suspects in the Mainland demonstrated the determination of Police and other law enforcement agencies in combating crimes jointly and upholding the rule of law.

     The four arrestees are being detained for further enquiries.

     Concerning the aforementioned case, Police have arrested six men and three women, aged between 19 and 39 earlier. Eight of them have been laid holding charges with "conspiracy to rob", "aiding and abetting robbery", "permitting a vehicle to be driven by an unlicensed person", "permitting a vehicle to be used without third party insurance", "forgery", "driving without a licence" and "driving without third party insurance" respectively. The case was mentioned at the Shatin Magistrates' Courts this morning. The remaining arrestee has been released on bail pending further investigation.

     Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories South is underway.
