10 building plans approved in April

     The Buildings Department approved 10 building plans in April, with two on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, six were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, three were for community services developments, and one was for factory and industrial development.

     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on eight building projects which, when completed, will provide 73 468 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving six private units and 1 595 rental units of the Hong Kong Housing Society, and 38 683 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for five building projects.

     The department also issued 14 occupation permits, with two on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 86 626 sq m involving 2 009 units, and 73 982 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in April totalled about $7.3 billion.

     In addition, three demolition consents were issued.

     The department received 2 454 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in April and issued 761 removal orders on UBWs.
