Secretary for Health to visit Fujian tomorrow

The Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, will depart for a two-day visit to Fujian Province tomorrow (June 4). He will meet local health officials to further deepen the exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland in healthcare-related areas. He will also visit local hospitals and pharmaceutical enterprises to get a better grasp of the latest developments of the healthcare system there.

During his stay in Fuzhou, Professor Lo will meet the officials of the Fujian Provincial Health Commission, and visit Huashan Hospital Fujian Campus, Fudan University and local pharmaceutical institutions. He will depart for Quanzhou and Xiamen on June 5 to visit Jinjiang Municipal Hospital and Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen University respectively. He will also visit the Xiamen Bio Bay to hold exchanges with local pharmaceutical enterprises to have a better understanding of the latest achievements in innovative biomedical research and developments in the region and their directions for internationalisation, as well as to introduce Hong Kong's initiatives in promoting medical scientific research and establishing an international health and medical innovation hub.

Professor Lo will return to Hong Kong on June 5. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Health, Dr Cecilia Fan, will be the Acting Secretary for Health.
