Hospital Authority releases Medication Safety Bulletin
******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (May 29) published the biannual issue of the Medication Safety Bulletin (MSB). Key highlights of this issue include citing the latest warnings from overseas regulatory bodies and reminding healthcare professionals of the points to note when using the hemostatic agent "tranexamic acid". The bulletin also briefs frontline staff on the latest guidelines regarding the safe use of smart cabinets and adverse drug reaction reporting.

The latest issue also features experience sharing from the New Territories West Cluster. As the dosage of some medications may require stepping up or stepping down based on the clinical condition of a patient, the bulletin reminds healthcare professionals to check the drug treatment regimen when prescribing these medications to ensure correct dosages.

The publication has already been posted on the HA homepage for sharing with healthcare staff. Members of the public are also welcome to browse its content at the following link: www.ha.org.hk/msb. The MSB is published every six months, during the last week of May and November. The next issue will be published in November 2026.
