Dragages Hong Kong Limited was fined $154,800 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (May 18) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance, the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gear) Regulations, the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Management) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
      
     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 10, 2023, at a construction site in Tung Chung, Lantau Island. During a lifting operation of a metal fin for external wall installation work, the metal fin fell and struck an employee who was walking underneath the work position. The employee sustained serious injuries and passed away on the same day.
