Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

     Yat Ming Construction & Engineering Limited was fined $120,000 at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (April 23) for violating the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.

     The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 23, 2023, at a construction site at the Peak. A worker, while checking the concrete breaker of an excavator, was crushed by another excavator that moved backward. The worker was trapped between the concrete breaker and the backward-moving excavator. The worker sustained serious injuries and passed away on the same day.
