
Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

Hong Kong Airport Services Limited was fined $90,000 at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today (April 16) for violating the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 6, 2024, at the apron of Hong Kong International Airport. A worker, while working at the upper end of a belt loader's conveyor, fell about three metres from an unprotected edge of the conveyor to the ground. He sustained serious head and neck injuries and passed away four days later.
